Fall is Here!

Fall has officially arrived. The leaves are begging to turn, the nights are getting chilly and the school year is in full swing. Garrett started Kindergarten this year and so far he seems to be doing well. His teacher, Ms. Rasicot has learned all about his larger than life personality and the difficulties that he has controlling his little body. She also recognizes that underneath that spunky attitude is also a very smart boy that needs a challenge in order to stay interested and she has been great in giving him opportunities to join classes that offer a little higher level of education. One our biggest challenges right now with Garrett is sportsmanship. He is currently in soccer and hockey and did t-ball this summer and has some troubles with following the rules (especially since he isn't the one who put them in place) and participating the entire time. He often complains that he is tired and its just too much work, but this is usually a reaction that he has when he feels that the other kids are doing better than him. So its been a learning process for all of us to find the best ways to help Garrett improve his attitude while gaining confidence and there are days that I would rather just not adult anymore. This parenting stuff is seriously tough work ...

Big time Kindergartner! 

The same day that Garrett started Kindergarten at Shirley Hills, Ethan began his first day of preschool at Step By Step in Wayzata. For the most part his experience is still the same since he is at the same school just with new teachers. So far he has really enjoyed Step By Step Wayzata since we moved to our new house in March. He has adjusted so well and his teachers have stated that he is so happy every single day. The happiest kid they have seen.... apparently he saves those terrible two tantrums just for us ....

Speaking of two year olds ... man I didn't miss this from when Garrett went through it. And I just keep thinking .. just wait Ash, threes are even worse than twos. Ethan is definitely no exception the the terrible twos rule, he is complete with outbursts, screaming fits, bedtime challenges and anything else you can think of. But he is also one of the sweetest kids in the whole world. Which is why we call him our little sour patch kid. He can turn it off and on in a fraction of a second and that sweet sweet face makes it so hard to be mad at him. I'm a sucker for that smile.
