Ear Infections :(

Our first case of ear infections started out on Wednesday when Step-By-Step called and said that Garrett was running a fever of 100.9 and was acting very cranky. Brett picked him up and brought him home. He also called and made him a doctor appointment which I scoffed at since his fever wasn't so high and last time we brought him in they said not to worry until it gets closer to the 104 range. Brett then reminded me that they also said when they've had a cold for a while and then get a fever its usally because something else is going on. So long story short (maybe too late for that) Brett brought Garrett in to see Dr. Joe and we discover that our poor guy has a double ear infection.

Dr. Joe prescribed some ear drops and and an antibiotic and we were ready for the mend to begin. Unfortunately it did not go that easy. The first night of antibiotics spiked your fever to 104.5 which really got Daddy and I nervous but the doctor said that until there were other signs like swelling or redness not to worry. So we focused on keeping you comfortable and keeping your fever down as best we could.

A couple days later Daddy noticed that you had a small rash on your stomach. Looked like lightly colored pin pricks all over your belly. We called the nurse hotline and they said that it sounded like a normal reaction to the antibiotics and was not concerning what-so-ever. Keeping an eye on things we decided to go forward with our 4th of July plans the following day and head to grandma and grandpa's.

Since you weren't feeling so great you spent most of the 4th sleeping and not feeling so great and although your rash was getting a little worse it still wasn't to the point that the nurse said we would need to worry. The next day the rash began spreading up your neck onto your face and down onto your legs. We decided that there was no reason to wait it out and would feel much better if we brought you in. We went and saw the doctor and good thing that we did because he told us that although the rash was nothing to worry about and would clear soon the antibiotics were not helping your ears. So he prescribed a new round of medicine and fingers crossed you were going to start feeling better shortly.

Well it took about a week for your rash to clear but your ears started feeling better the next day on the new meds and finally we were going in the right direction.
